Fällkniven F1 Elmax Anniversary

40 year anniversary

Fällkniven AB celebrates 40 years on the international knife market and honor this by releasing a special version of our bestseller F1 Pilot Survival Knife, now with an exclusive Swedish powder steel of the highest class (Elmax). The story behind this sensational knife began when the Swedish Air Force in 1987 asked us to develop a new survival knife, a knife that would better match the technical environment that the JAS 39 Griffin system stood for.

In August 1995, the first delivery of several thousands of F1 knives was made to the Swedish Armed Forces and the following year, sales started on the civilian market. The success was formidable – for the first time there was a serious survival knife available on the world market without fishing hooks, compass and serrated blade spine and upon that, also with a blade in a very advanced rust-resistant special steel. The philosophy that we introduced around advanced survival knives was really in strong contrast to the old technology that has guided the development of combat and survival knives since World War II. Instead of cheap standard steels, we invested in high-quality steels that were both stronger and stayed sharp much better, but were also more expensive and more difficult to process. On top of that, we made sure that the handle was safe and comfortable even in cold climates.

Model F1 has formed the school of modern survival knives and that knowledge, in combination with our long experience of living in the harshest possible climates at the Arctic Circle, is something that we take advantage of when we develop our knives. Therefore, be assured that a knife from Fällkniven AB is not only future-proof, with a little thought and common sense it will last a lifetime. If anything, it is to economize on the earth’s limited resources.
